GTAV eCourses provides teachers with opportunities to undertake online professional learning.

Online courses are a flexible way for teachers to learn new skills and knowledge and build confidence in teaching Geography.

The Geography Teachers’ Association of Victoria Inc. (GTAV) is a member-based professional teaching association that assists Geography teachers in Victoria. The GTAV is committed to excellence in geographical education in Victoria. We strive to achieve this by:

• providing leadership in geographical education
• promoting the value and place of Geography teaching and learning
• fostering participation of, and collaboration between students, teachers and the wider community
• providing quality services and support.

The GTAV has been an active non-profit professional association for over 50 years. Through our program and services we aim to promote Geography, geographical education and its importance to society.

GTAV eCourses provide teachers with short and long courses delivered over the internet. The courses are aimed at both trained and out-of-field Geography teachers to build capacity and confidence in teaching Geography.

The length of GTAV eCourses vary from a few hours up to a number of weeks. Some courses include self-assessment items alone; others will also include formal assessment items.

Each GTAV eCourse is linked to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Participants will receive a certificate acknowledging professional development hours linked to the accreditation standards upon successful completion of each course.

Some GTAV eCourses also link to the Professional Standards for Accomplished Teaching of School Geography providing teachers with samples of exemplary Geography teaching and comments on this teaching by the teachers and students involved.

As the GTAV is a not-for-profit organisation, all revenue from online professional learning eCourses is reinvested to provide teachers with further professional learning and/or quality resources to build capacity in Geography teaching.

Note: All current GTAV members will receive a 20% rebate after each course has been purchased. There is no rebate on resubmissions.
